[ The sound is a little whiny at first, but then she appears from behind the door, rubbing a hand against her forehead. At least she doesn't look like she's really hurt, so there's that, and the rubbing gives her a momentary distraction from not even being entirely sure how to look at him now he's back. ]

[ She grabs that hand and at the same time as she lets him help her up, she sucks in a deep breath. Right. He's back, so there's no need to be sad or thing about any of the stuff that happened. He's back, so she can be happy. Isn't that what she always does, just smile? So why is that when she actually feels really happy to see him again, it's somehow harder to pull off her usual way too wide over the top smile?

[ Hong Kong is feeling that awkwardness too and not really knowing what to do about it. This situation is sort of unprecedented and other than watching anime where this kind of things happens (which he is sure is not realistic at all!) he really doesn't have much to go on. Okay, and let's be real, most of those anime are about people with amnesia or something. He makes sure she's steady before replying. ]

[ He chews on his lip for a second. ] Should we sit?
[ -- Right, sitting. Sitting is a good idea. Sitting sounds pretty safe. Maybe she can muster up a little bit more then, maybe enough energy to at least act like her usual self instead of letting this awkwardness linger.
She gives him a small nod before making her way over to the living room. ]
Do you want something to drink? [ Might as well make themselves a little comfortable.. ]
[ He follows, worrying at his lip a little. He's just not sure how he should be reacting. This isn't exactly a situation that's got a lot of precedent for him... ]
Oh yeah- I mean, if it's not any trouble. That'd be good.
[ He's not really thirsty, but it feels like they might be here a little while. ]
Yeah! I mean-- of course, I'll go get some. [ It's more just an excuse to escape that kind of weird tension for a moment. Maybe she can let it roll off her shoulders in the kitchen and take some deep breaths.
Being alone for a moment does help her calm down a little in the end, because by the time she comes back with a set of drinks and puts them back on the table, she seems a little less awkward, at least. ]
There. [ She grabs one of the glasses, taking a sips, and then - finally - she smiles. ]
[ Hong Kong tries not to fidget and twiddle his thumbs like a five year-old while she's gone. He doesn't know why he's anxious, he should be his usual, cool self! Totally fine! ]

[ They're both being totally uncool, but.. well, at least it's not much of a change of pace in that respect. They're never actually cool, no matter what they might think. ]

I guess it kinda depends on what you mean by strange. It was about like, fourteen months or something? [ It was a bit disorienting, but he figured out what was up eventually once he got back. ]
[ She semi-nervously plays a little with the necklace she's wearing as she thinks about it. Really, what she's trying to ask is if something changed enough for him to go hasta la vista Minako, but she's not confident enough (despite usual appearances) to actually ask him that outright. ]
[ When she says that, he has to take a moment to think (if only he could predict the future right now and make her aware of his oncoming personal crisis). ]
Nothing like that, I don't think. It was mostly like, business as usual at home. Some political stuff, but that's not really new.

.. That's good. [ That nothing big and bad happened, at least, or the landlord would have pulled a double cruel move.. but then this means that even if it's been a while for him compared to how long it's been for her, he hasn't changed really badly. In fact, he's pretty much still the way she remembers him - just still the usual dork. ]
I know you are, but I'm-- well.. [ Not as strong as she pretends to be? Or that's what Minako herself thinks, anyway, but saying it out loud feels too much like making it real, so she can't really force it out. ]
.. Nevermind. I'm just really glad you're back. I mean, I know we said we'd be fine either way, but.. I don't know. It's just nice, having you here again.
[ There's something a little calming about the touch, Minako can tell that much. Like it's just going to be okay again. Like no one will remember how embarrassing she was over him leaving, like it will be like he never even left.. ]
Even if it'd be weird, I don't think I can stop being weird in that case. [ Because she can't not feel glad that he's back here, as selfish as it might be.
